The latest accessory trend that
seems to be catching on is vintage inspired earrings. During Dolce &
Gabbana’s last fashion show, they featured oversized vintage styled baroque
earrings. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R-ZVGBHC8hU.
Since this successful show, we have seen the designs slowly filter down through
the celebrity population.
On January 26, The Grammy Awards
hosted some of the most famous music celebrities in the world. Their fashion
choices are setting the trends for upcoming seasons. Cindy Lauper’s oversized
gold earrings, neckpiece, and hand jewellery were an overstatement of the
vintage style now trending. On the other hand, Katy Perry’s hint at this trend
was perfectly balanced. The amethyst drop earrings were the only jewellery she
wore, but they definitely added the touch of style needed to complete her look.
With similar simplistic looks, both Taylor Swift and Pink, wore diamond drop
earrings that alluded to vintage inspiration. However, Alicia Keys and
presenter/actress Anna Ferris both wore bold vintage earrings in navy blue. All
of the celebrities wore something that focused on the vintage look currently trending.

Using these patterns, we can
conclude that vintage inspired statement earrings will dominate the market in
the upcoming season. By extracting style elements from this trend, we can begin
to inspire some high impact design and produce the same effect. For instance,
the baroque style is made up of hanging elements, faceted gemstones, and
filigree work. By incorporating these elements, we can construct focal earrings
that have a baroque or antique feel to them (Lavender Swarovski Earrings). Even
though earrings may seem like a small accessory, they are a great way to make a
strong fashion statement.
